Steven Edwards

Steven Edwards is a Registered Landscape Architect and a Certified Arborist in the State of California.  With more than 15 years of experience in various types of landscape architecture and urban design projects, including hospitality, residential, public works and commercial campuses,  his work has helped shape the iconic landscape fabric of Los Angeles.  Steven has combined his knowledge in planning, design, horticulture and arboriculture to provide a unique and thorough "turn-key" approach to landscapes large and small. As Founding Principal of Primaterra Studio, his focus is on efficiently implementing this varied expertise and create truly evocative, contextually appropriate, and environmentally responsible outdoor places.

Steven is a graduate of University of California, Santa Barbara (BFA) as well as a certificate of graduate level work at UCLA Extension. A SoCal native,  he began is professional career in Santa Barbara with Rob Fowler Landscape Architecture and in Los Angeles with Gensler. While at Gruen and Associates, Steven spearheaded the Landscape design component of multiple public works projects including the groundbreaking Metro Expo Line in Los Angeles.  He has also crafted the Landscape Design for Santa Monica College, Sony Pictures, Beverly Hills Gateway, and many others. In addition, he has a deep fondness for the city he calls home and dedicates much time to the beautification and preservation of Los Angeles parks and infrastructure,  often volunteering time to implement remediation efforts along LA streets and in LA neighborhoods.

When not outside designing or providing arboricultural expertise, he can be found... outside: tending to his drought-tolerant and edible gardens with his three children.

 

Kruti Majmudar

Kruti brings almost 20 years of experience in architecture, design and planning to Primaterra Studio.  Kruti began her architecture career with the award-winning firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, where she was part of design teams for Pixar Animation Studios and Aristech Corporation among others.  Her theater design work at BCJ eventually led her to Los Angeles where she, while at Gensler, served as lead Project Architect for the Regal Cinemas at the groundbreaking LALive! urban entertainment complex in Los Angeles. Additional theater work includes Arclight Cinemas in Pasadena, CA, as well as in Manhattan Beach. In addition to her theater work, Kruti has extensive experience in Hospitality work, including Hyatt Hotel at Incheon Airport in Korea, the 3,200 key, one million square foot hotel tower for the Parisian Hotel in Macau for the Sands Corporation, and the conference center and ballrooms for the Ritz Carlton and Marriott hotels at LA Live!. 

Kruti's residential work ranges from a 6000 sf penthouse at 72nd and Broadway in Manhattan to residences and a training campus for an NGO in Rural India. She is currently working on several built elements for landscape clients in Southern California and is developing outdoor furniture as an extension of Primaterra Studio. 

An East Coast transplant in love with Southern California, Kruti is a graduate of Syracuse University's School of Architecture. Concurrent to her study of design, she was a student of film, and has spent years as a Production Designer, Writer, Producer and Director for herself and others. She is the writer/ director of the feature film "The Memsahib" which enjoyed success on the festival circuit and online. 

At Primaterra, Kruti has created a laboratory for multidisciplinary design and craft and enjoys the range of work before her: from designing clay tiles to be handmade in Morocco, to master planning for cities and parks.
